ROAD DEPARTMENT MECHANIC
The Road & Solid Waste Department Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing all road department equipment: vehicles, trucks, machinery, shop equipment and facilities. Successful applicant must be able to perform infield repairs, diagnose problems and have considerable background in all phases of mechanics.
Applicants should have experience operating a variety of equipment such as motor graders, loaders, backhoes, dozers, snowplows and sweepers.
Successful applicant will also be expected to fill in as an equipment operator in the various districts of Esmeralda County as needed and specified by the Road Department Supervisor.
Successful applicant will also be expected to fill in and perform normal operations of the Esmeralda County Solid Waste Department, such as driving roll-off trucks, application of daily cover, record keeping and day to day clean up at all county drop-off facilities.
A Class A or B CDL license is required but, if necessary, will consider other qualified applicants who have the ability to acquire a CDL within 2 months of hire.
The successful applicant will be susceptible to drug testing, as per Esmeralda County personnel policy.
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Successful applicant must be a resident of Esmeralda County or be willing to relocate within 30 days of hire date.
This position will be 40 hours per week and work days will be Monday to Thursday, 6 am to 4:30 pm, starting wage $13.66 per hour. Actual pay may be higher depending on experience.
